Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

We were previously in-network with Highmark BCBS and Aetna. As of May 2023, DRPS is no longer credentialed with any insurance panels. Payment is required to be made in full at the time of your appointment and documentation of the service with the appropriate codes and specific documentation will be provided to you. This documentation should be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement. For more information on fees and payment, please click here.

In what states are you licensed to practice?

I am fully licensed as a Psychologist in New York and Delaware. I am also licensed to practice virtually via telehealth in over 35 states through an interstate agreement, PSYPACT. Click the link to see if your state is included in PSYPACT.

Can’t I just take medication?

Medication can be effective but it alone cannot solve all issues. Sometimes medication is needed in conjunction with counseling. Our work together is designed to explore and unpack the problems you are experiencing and expand on the strengths that can help you accomplish your personal goals. In some cases, before you begin medication, you need to be formally evaluated by a Psychologist or Psychiatrist (Prescriber).

How long will therapy take?

That is not easy to determine but at DRPS we believe you shouldn’t be in therapy for the rest of your life. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place

What are the benefits of getting evaluated?

The primary benefit of psychological testing is to find the right treatment and resources. If you or a loved one, clinician, doctor, etc. are unsure if you have ADHD or another disorder, an assessment can help to confirm the diagnosis and/or rule out other factors.

A comprehensive assessment completed approximately within the last three years is required to be considered for any accommodations or medication, in some cases

How long does the assessment process take?

This depends on which assessment battery is best for you. For most people, it takes about three to four hours for a standard assessment. However, sometimes a comprehensive battery of tests is required. DRPS has expedited report options available.
