Psychodynamic Therapy

At DRPS, we use a psychodynamic approach to cognitive behavioral therapy. The goal is not to be in therapy for the rest of your life. Brief psychodynamic therapy is an effective way to investigate the “why” behind our thoughts and actions; it focuses on questions such as “Why am I doing what I’m doing?” and “Why am I feeling this way?”

Trauma (PTSD)

Treating trauma often requires incorporating continuing relationships with the perpetrators of your pain. Navigating close personal relationships while feeling fear, confusion, and shame can be especially difficult to address alone. DRPS employs the psychodynamic approach to navigate the personal, familial, and societal contexts necessary for the effective treatment of trauma.

Depression

Social stigmas that come with the label of being depressed are significant barriers to well-being. Identifying the environmental, biological, and circumstantial factors contributing to depression is the first step in treating it. DRPS offers support and care through the hardest days and into treatment.

Moderate Anxiety

Research indicates that therapy is the most effective option for treating anxiety disorders. Therapy treats more than just the symptoms, unlike a strictly pharmaceutical approach. At DRPS we don’t focus on the anxiety, we focus on the things that cause anxiety.

LGBTQIA+ Friendly

LGBTQIA+ people confront unique stressors and experiences such as homophobia, prejudice, coming out, and discrimination which often lead to one or more psychological challenges. At DRPS we’re openly LGBTQIA+ allied, mindful of LGBTQIA+ issues, and focused on personal growth.
