Dr. Cratissa
Cratissa Schley (Slī)
Cratissa Schley (slī) is a licensed Clinical Psychologist, CEO of Deeply Rooted Psychological Services LLC, and host of a mental health natural hair podcast called Deeply Rooted with Dr. Cratissa. Her podcast is based on her dissertation research on the psychological transition to natural hair in young adult women. It offers listeners a regular opportunity to check in with their mental health on a day that’s already ripe with vulnerability and deeply rooted connections to their inner self. She asks women to not just wash their hair on wash day, but to check their soul. Her personal mission aligns quite well with this quote from Nina Simone:
"My job is to somehow make them curious enough or persuade them, by hook or crook, to get more aware of themselves and where they came from and what they are into and what is already there, and just to bring it out. This is what compels me to compel them and I will do it by whatever means necessary.”
Dr. Cratissa is a proud Philadelphian who has been in the mental health field for over 15 years. She has been featured in OnStar’s podcast Tell Me What Happened, Crossover Health’s Be Well podcast, and WURD radio’s discussions of collective grief in the Black community and natural hair dissertation research. She has a strong commitment to providing culturally competent care and is passionate about training early career psychologists to assist with the current mental health crisis in the Black community. Through her practice, Deeply Rooted Psychological Services LLC, she conducts individual, couples, and family therapy and psychological evaluations to help people learn more about themselves and identify a customized clinical treatment plan to address presenting concerns. Licensed Psychologist in Delaware and New York. Member of PSYPACT – Currently approved to practice in 34 states across the United States.
